PS3 Review: Jak & Daxter Collection (HD)
Posted: Feb 21, 2012
Jak & Daxter join the rising number of games from yesteryear that have received HD upgrades. The original Playstation 2 trilogy has been remastered for the PS3 with 720P graphics. Although the last game in the trilogy, Jak 3, was released in 2004, several spinoff titles kept the franchise alive well into the current generation of gaming. I still remember enjoying hours of gameplay with the Daxter spinoff when I first got my Playstation Portable. The trilogy still maintains its fun, whimsical story. Aside from the visuals, nothing much has changed about the game, including the horizontal camera controls, which are flipped by default. For a modest price of $39.99, this three game collection is a bargain for gamers (especially kids) who have yet to experience the joy (and humor) of Daxter.
Jak & Daxter is a true trilogy in every sense of the word. In the initial game, ...

Fear not because the series is getting a new day and time-slot, and worldwide game publisher, Little Orbit announced today that they entered a licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (Batman: Arkham City) for a Young Justice: Legacy cross platform action RPG for the PS3, XBox 360, Nintendo Wii, and the Nintendo DS set for a release in early 2013. Xbox 360 Review: The Darkness II – A Smart Story with Frenetic Action
Posted: Feb 20, 2012
These days, you can’t skip a release week without another shooter game entering the market. If it’s not a shooter title, it’s a sequel or a licensed property. Before long, you can’t help but feel like you’re playing several versions of the same game – just with better or worse graphics and the possibility of a different type of Deathmatch. The Darkness II just happens to be all three of these: a first-person shooter, licensed property and a sequel. However, The Darkness II finds a way to shine a light through the litany of repeat games with a creative story, superb voice acting and frenetic gameplay that always keeps the adrenaline pumping. There are moments when the combat can get too chaotic and cause a migraine or two, especially when you’re trying to eat a heart instead of pick up a weapon. But the smart story will compel you to ...
Max Payne 3 – Enter the ‘City of God’ Trailer
Posted: Feb 20, 2012
Get ready for Max Payne meets The City of God.
In the latest trailer for Max Payne 3, Rockstar Games reminds us once again that next-gen gaming has more to do with creating engrossing story lines and less to do with tossing in the latest motion-gaming peripheral.
This trailer shows off more of the character stories found in Max Payne 3 and the reasons for Max’s trip to Brazil. It also shows off some powerful shotgun action down in the heart of Brazil’s favelas.
Bullet time returns this May.

The Walking Dead Gets a Dose of Mass Effect 3
Posted: Feb 17, 2012
This Sunday, Bioware will invade The Walking Dead with a 90-second CG promo for Mass Effect 3.
The new trailer, titled “Take Back Earth”, debuted this February at Spotlight EA in New York.
EDITOR’S PICK: Mass Effect 3 “Take Back Earth” Trailer Impressions
It’s a big push for Bioware’s third game in the franchise. TWD is currently one of the most watched shows on cable TV. The midseason debut was seen by 10 million viewers.
You can check out a teaser for the new trailer below. The full trailer is impressive and worth blocking out part of your holiday vacation to see.
Mass Effect 3 hits the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on March 6, 2012. EA recently announced that it would get the game in the hands of gamers early, by sending retail copies into space over key cities such as New York, LA and San Francisco. The ...
Xbox 360 Review: Shank 2 (XBLA)
Posted: Feb 17, 2012
The story in Shank 2 may be as paper thin as The Expendables, but there’s still a lot of brawling mayhem to be found in the Shank sequel from Klei Entertainment.
There is something very familiar about Shank 2 and it’s not just the fact that this game is a sequel. The 2D side-scrolling game from Klei Entertainment is a friendly reminder that the days of linear brawlers are far from over. If you give a game a little style, some cartoony blood and upgrade the controls, you can still delight even the most seasoned gamer. Shank 2 doesn’t seek to reinvent the work of the original title; rather, it is an upgraded game with more fluid controls and a cooperative survival mode. Waves of villains, sometimes scantily clad, and endless power-ups await you in this new game. Just don’t expect a very thought provoking story.
Shank 2 feels like ...
‘Syndicate’ Launch Trailer – Get your Dub On with a Killer-New, Nero Remix (Xbox 360, PS3, PC)
Posted: Feb 17, 2012
I know that everyone is holding off on playing another shooter until Mass Effect 3 drops, but I can’t help but be anxious for EA’s upcoming sci-fi shooter Syndicate.
My reasons have nothing to do with the gameplay or the thrill of four-player co-op. Rather, I’m just psyched to play because of the recent dub remixes from Skrillex, Digitalism, Flux Pavilion, Nero and DJ Scattle. It’s a throwback to college parties and a lot of … you know… partying. I can’t explain further because I don’t remember much about those parties. But, I’m pretty sure I had an awesome time. Luckily, people weren’t such camera phone freaks back then. So you can’t prove sh*t. Phew.
You can check out some of the dub remixes on the Syndicate Facebook Fan page. Don’t worry. In true remix fashion, these are freebies from DJs who just like to put out cool, ...
Sony Plugs PS Vita in ‘Resident Evil: Retribution’ Trailer
Posted: Feb 16, 2012
Sony may think it’s being slick with this new trailer for Resident Evil: Retribution, but it’s hard to miss the egregious product promotion used in the first 30 seconds of the 1:15 video.
You’ll see numerous Sony handheld devices, the second of which is Sony’s new PS Vita handheld gaming system. I couldn’t watch the trailer without being reminded of the first Michael Bay Transformers movie and all of the close-ups on the Ford logo.
Resident Evil: Retribution stars Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez, Sienna Guillory, Kevin Durand, Shawn Roberts, Colin Salmon, Johann Urb, Boris Kodjoe, and Li Bing Bing.
EDITOR’S PICK: ‘Resident Evil: Revelations’ – Handheld’s New ‘Mature’ Guilty Pleasure
Watch the trailer aka Sony Handheld commercial below:
Story:
The Umbrella Corporations deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human races last and only hope, ALICE (Milla Jovovich), awakens ...
Adrian Gonzalez & CC Sabathia Get their ‘Move’ on in NYC for MLB 12 the Show Launch
Posted: Feb 16, 2012
Today, at the Sony Style store in Midtown New York, Boston Red Sox first basement Adrian Gonzalez and New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia kicked off the 2012 Major League Baseball season early with a game of MLB 12 the Show on PS3.
Gonzalez may be the cover athlete for this year’s MLB the Show, but that didn’t stop CC from coming by to show off his pitching skills with the PS3 Move controller.
At last year’s promo event, then-cover athlete and Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer was the sole ball player to be featured at the event. So it was a delight to see these two players, from rival teams, show up to show off their skills.
CC admitted to be a fan of the game franchise and plays last year’s release at home. Although the two star athletes didn’t play a full game, ...
